FA1 4/8/1359 DR - Raiding the Fallen Halls (210 XP)

 


Simon N. (GM):GM: Syrus you agreed to meet Tenho Isotalo at the secret entrance to the Fallen Halls - you arrived a bit late but followed the torchlight upstairs from a big cave & have just caught up.

Simon N. (GM):Your location: 10. The Grand Stair
The ceiling soars thirty feet high in the center of this impressive chamber, and the walls are carved with images of dwarves at their forges. Two large stone doors exit to the north and south,to the west is a rusty iron gate, gaps sealed with blankets & bags of straw . Several old skeletons lie scattered near the northern door. A gate of wrought iron stands in the western wall.
Simon N. (GM):In the center of the floor you ascend from a natural rift which descends sharply, dozens of stone steps lead down into darkness. You can still hear the distant sound of running water from the stream below.
Looking around in the lantern light, you see several stirges hanging high up on the walls, occasionally rustling softly.
The door to the north is carved in the image of a glowering dwarf’s face.

Simon N. (GM):Several sleeping stirges are hanging high up in the wall corners, over 20' up.
Muiz:ooc so the sturges arent hostile yet?
Strohm of Leth (Muiz):ooc should we deal with them now?
Simon N. (GM):These ones look plump & well fed. They rustle softy in their sleep.
Eldred (Matt):sheathes great sword, shifts torch to left hand and unstraps and holds an axe in right

Chris T.:I'm a bit lost trying to tie that description in with what's on the screen?
Simon N. (GM):Malied sees the straw & rags pushed into the west gate, clearly a not too successful anti stirge defence (P-Inv 16)

Simon N. (GM):The secret door pivots open to reveal a chamber of finished stonework. The room is cluttered with crude furnishings, and the air is hazy with the smoke of a small cooking fire. Dozens of yellowed skulls are suspended from the ceiling by fraying ropes strung through holes punched in the bone. Two orcs in ragged robes looks up from their talk, faces twisted in an expression of rage.
Erasmus:"Everybody ready? 3... 2... 1..."
Simon N. (GM):A very fat orc is snoring on the bed.

Range: 30ft.
Components: V, M (a snake's tongue and either a bit of honeycomb or a drop of sweet oil)
Duration: Concentration up to 8 hours
You suggest a course of activity (limited to a sentence or two) and magically influence a creature you can see within range that can hear and understand you. Creatures that can't be charmed are immune to this effect. The suggestion must be worded in such a manner as to make the course of action sound reasonable.
