Born 9/4/1444 DR (37 in 1481 DR), red-blond beard, lean, weathered complexion, well muscled and
in his prime. Second born of three brother knights from the Blackthorn family
of minor gentry, traditionally the Stewards of Tavysburg for the Travys family.
Sir Jorah was once an adventurer, then Steward to the Lady Eclara Travys,
cousin to Lady Moonfire, but became bored with his post and took to heavy
drinking. On the night the raiders sacked Tavys Manor (M6 1479 DR) he was
carousing with his brothers Sir Michael and Sir Arren at the White Wolf Tavern in Tavysburg. He
returned next morning to find Travys Manor a smoking ruin, the inhabitants dead
or taken. Disgraced, Jorah foreswore alcohol and has flung himself into hunting
bandits, raiders and worse across the southern High Forest and beyond. His
father, the former Steward Sir Michael the Elder, died in 1475 DR. His mother Lady Aryn
Blackthorn (nee Covere) now heads the Blackthorn family, administers their estate and acts as
Reeve, aided by her eldest son Sir Michael (jnr) as Vice-Reeve.
In M2 1480
Dr Jorah agreed to serve the new Warden of the North, Lirael, as Steward. With Lady Eclara Travys retired to Waterdeep after her liberation from Najara (M4 1480), the Blackthorn are lieged to Lady Lirael as Warden of the North, who is vassal to Lady Moonfire, the
High Lord of Loudwater. Moonfire was known to think little of the Blackthorn family after Jorah's failure allowed Eclara Travys to be kidnapped, but she apparently relented M6 1480 DR, inviting all the Blackthorns to her Midsummer Ball... to which Jorah and Lirael went together.
Shortly thereafter Jorah accompanied the Heroes of Loudwater into the Death Cyst, battling the forces of the Rotted Throne. He was killed by Baaldran the Flayer in Hordethrone, but restored to life by the breath of the goddess Selune, and returned alive to the Gray Vale. Long in love with Lady Lirael, he proposed to her M9 1480 DR. She accepted.
