Firaen the Bandit Queen (RIP)

Simon N. (GM):GM: Currently it's a bright sunny morning. Syrus performed at the Slaughtered Lamb in Grimstead last night and was up at dawn (5am) has travelled the nearly 8 miles to Fulscarp for his morning stroll. :)
Not sure if there may have been a bard-related reason he was pitched out of bed so early this morning!
Husbands do get jealous...
Syrus (Kenny PC):I like to get up early and tune my voice to the sounds of birds nearby
Simon N. (GM)::)
That's a nice innocent reason!
Erasmus:Erasmus comes to consciousness, stretches and takes out his holy symbol for another 10 minutes of meditation.
Simon N. (GM):It's about 7.30am and the inn is coming to life as Rosana cooks porridge on the open fire.
Erasmus:(and no, "holy symbol" and "meditation" are not euphemisms
Kenny H.:HA! @Erasmus
Simon N. (GM):Rosana Irkell the shapely innkeep's daughter gives Syrus a warm smile as he enters. "Good morning, Bard! Give us a song for your breakfast?"
Syrus (Kenny PC):*Syrus approaches Rosana at the bar
Simon N. (GM):GM: Percy you don't have a great history in this village, are you looking to sign up with an adventuring party and leave?
Syrus (Kenny PC):Syrus starts singing a tune (similar to "Whats The Story Morning Glory")
Simon N. (GM):Rogvin the farmer tells Percy there's a band of adventurers at the Inn right now, planning some foolhardy quest no doubt.
Syrus roll Perormance (DC 5 to do well enough for porridge) :)
Percy Hollowwood (Christian PC):i shall head there in hopes of finding them and a drink
Kenny H.:Roll 1d20?
Simon N. (GM):yes, hit the icon or type /roll d20

Syrus (Kenny PC):Oops singing with birds did not help this morning :-P
Simon N. (GM):That's a 7 - pretty out of tune, but you do get porridge. :)
Syrus (Kenny PC):Syrus winks to Rosana
Thank You M'Lady
Christian L.:percy will enter and go and sit down
Simon N. (GM):Rosana: "I hope you're warmed up for the evening crowd! Oh, if only my family were here..."
She sighs. "My father, my brother, both vanished on the road these past two weeks!"
Percy sits down with little attention paid to him.
Rosana: "At least these brave adventurers plan to look for them."
Erasmus Bos (Tim PC):Erasmus has packed his things away and taken a seat. He eyes the newest arrival sideways
Syrus (Kenny PC):(To Rosana) Dear Lady, I heard faint rumblings of villagers talking about something on my way here, they looked rather worried...
Simon N. (GM):Rosana: "Indeed yes! Talk of evil coming from the old fort... Vendle says it's Goblins!"
Percy Hollowwood (Christian PC):to eramus " hello there my name is percy
Syrus (Kenny PC):(To Rosana) Goblin's eh? I slayed a few of them in the past! Who are these adventurers you speak of?
Simon N. (GM):Rosana gives Percy a cool look.
Syrus (Kenny PC):I follow Rosana's gaze and noticed Percy too
Simon N. (GM):Rosana looks at the wizard slumped over on the bar and sighs. "Well only one of them is here and awake. That bearded fellow there the hobbit is talking with. A Monk of the Yellow Rose no less!"
Erasmus Bos (Tim PC):Erasmus is a tall, muscular human with long, shaggy dirty-blond hair and a full beard. Piercing green eyes look out from under a heavy brow. He wears robes of the Yellow Rose and carries a wooden quarterstaff.bound with leather wraps.
Simon N. (GM):GM OOC: Dunno if we'll get any more players or just you three!
Syrus (Kenny PC):(To Rosana) Oh! A VERY late night for our wizardy fellow! Who is the other adventurer you speak of?
Erasmus Bos (Tim PC):"Percy, you say? Erasmus. Pleasure to make your acquaintance"
Percy Hollowwood (Christian PC):peased to meet you
Simon N. (GM):Rosana smiles to Erasmus: "Good morning sir! Your porridge is ready." She brings him a bowl.
Erasmus Bos (Tim PC):"Much obliged."
Simon N. (GM):Then she goes to tend to the two merchants now standing and stretching. "Porridge Mr Tronak, Mr Tenho..."
Erasmus Bos (Tim PC):Erasmus' smile is masked by the beard, but the eyes convey the sentiment
Percy Hollowwood (Christian PC):"may i ask what you find your self doing here, travel or do you live here" to erasmus
Erasmus Bos (Tim PC):Erasmus looks down at his robes then back at Percy
Syrus (Kenny PC):Following Rosana One of you must be the adventurer Rosana speaks of, that will help her to find her family, am I right?
I am Syrus
Erasmus Bos (Tim PC):"I am an initiate at the Monastery of the Yellow Rose. I left to travel to discover my Path, as is customary ."
"Greetings, Syrus. I have indeed volunteered to assist Rosana by searching for her lost family."
Percy Hollowwood (Christian PC):"i am willing to help a young lady"
Simon N. (GM):One of the merchants comes sauntering over.
"Good morning Erasmus, friends."
Erasmus Bos (Tim PC):"Ah, good morning Tenho."
Syrus (Kenny PC):Happy to meet you both. I am always up for an adventure - may I join you in this rescue? ///Assuming there is a reward??
Simon N. (GM):He bows. "I am Tenho" he nods to the newcomers.
Tenho: "Poor Rosana is out of her mind with worry, I fear!"
Percy Hollowwood (Christian PC):"good to meet you sir "
Simon N. (GM):"You've heard the rumours about Fort Skulnar I take it?"
Erasmus Bos (Tim PC):"Reuniting a sundered family will be reward enough, surely?"
Syrus (Kenny PC):rolls his eyes
Simon N. (GM):Tenho smiles at Syrus' reaction. "Perhaps I can interest you in a more pecuniary reward?
Syrus (Kenny PC):(To Tenho) Hello Fellow, I am Syrus. Tell us about Fort Skulnar
AND THE REWARD!!!
Erasmus Bos (Tim PC):rolls his eyes
Simon N. (GM):Tenho: "They say it's hundreds of years old... but its recent history is what interests me. Rumour has reached my ears that the sadly deceased Ironwolf lords of Fort Skulnar had information as to the location of a legendary dwarf hold... and I have a mind to find that information!"
"I would of course see my companions in such an endeavour well paid...."
On the other table, the other merchant Tronak chuckles, spooning his porridge.
Erasmus Bos (Tim PC):Erasmus finishes his porridge and returns the bowl to the bar. He nudges the wizard, Grey
Percy Hollowwood (Christian PC):"may i ask what you find so funny" percy says to tronak
Simon N. (GM):Grey burbles and slumps further, clearly the worse for wear.
Rosana: "Those free drinks last night may have been a mistake...
Erasmus Bos (Tim PC):Erasmus, magically, vanishes
Simon N. (GM):OOC Where did Erasmus go?!
Percy Hollowwood (Christian PC):???
Simon N. (GM):Have a new Erasmus?
Erasmus Bos (Tim PC):OOC I think I pressed delete by mistake, or Grey cast something in his slumber
Simon N. (GM):GM: ok it's 7 so I'll assume the other 3 aren't coming.
Grey wakes, looks around, remembers something about volunterring for a dangerous mission last night, and skedaddles.
Erasmus Bos (Tim PC):To Rosana "I think we may be heading out soon. If this one wakes, tell him we are on our way to Fort Skulnar"/
Oh. Ok. :D
Syrus (Kenny PC):(To Tronak) Master Tronak, what did you find amusing when Tenho spoke?
Simon N. (GM):Tenho: "You're happy if I come with you three? I am quite handy in a fight..."
Tronal glances over at Tenho, then to Syrus.
Percy Hollowwood (Christian PC):"i am sure we can use the extra help" to tenho
Simon N. (GM):(quietly) "Oh, Tenho - he's not a bad man. But always looking out for the main chance, as they say."
Tenho smiles delightedly at Percy. "Excellent!"
Syrus (Kenny PC):(To Tronak) Would you like to join us also?
Erasmus Bos (Tim PC):To Tenho "Any assistance, particularly from those with... skin... in the game, is always appreciated."
Simon N. (GM):Tronak shakes his head. "I've seen enough of dungeons recently to last me a lifetime. Shackled in an ogre's lair being whipped naked by a priestess of Lolth - is not as fun as it sounds!"
"Thank Sollars, adventurers rescued me."
Syrus (Kenny PC):(To Tronak) have you been to Fort Skulnar before?
Simon N. (GM):Tronak shakes his head. "I've seen it from the road to Cumin Inn, rising over the treetops. Never been in it - I know what's good for me."
Tenho grins over at Tronak. "My friend, have you no adventure in your soul?!"
Tronak: "no."
Syrus (Kenny PC):(To everyone one at table) "THink we have heard all there is to know... shall we look at this Fort Skulnar then? Who has a map?
Simon N. (GM):Tenho pushes back his cloak, revealing a short blade and a tiny crossbow. "You see, I armed for adventure!"
Percy Hollowwood (Christian PC):" i am ready to set off although i have no map"
Simon N. (GM):GM: None of you has a map, though Percy knows the local area well.
Erasmus:"We need to take the East Road, then turn North past the Jagged Tower."
Simon N. (GM):GM: After breakfast & morning ablutions, you are ready to set off.
Rosana: "St Sollars bless you all!"
Percy Hollowwood (Christian PC):"off we go then "
Syrus (Kenny PC):Syrus stuffs the rest of his porridge into his mouth and rushes after the others
Erasmus:"we will return."
Syrus (Kenny PC):(shouts to Rosana) farewell M'Lady!!
We will bring back your family!
Simon N. (GM):GM: You head east out of Fulscarp across pastures and meadowlands north of the Stone Stream. .After a few miles you enter light woodland. GM OOC: OK, map change time...
Kenny H.:A bit gutted we currently have no WIzard!
Simon N. (GM):Barrds are good too :)
GM: You are heading through the woods when you spot a glint of metal on a ridge just north of the trail.
Suddenly several figures rise up, pointing light crossbows at you!
Three ragged looking men, and a dark haired woman in slightly rusty breastplate.

Simon N. (GM):Tenho: "Aha! Indeed, Mr Syrus - the notorious outlaw Lady Firean, I presume!"
The ridge is about 10' high, descending to jumbled rocks to the SE (rocks are difficult terrain).
Firaen calls out: "Hello, travellers!"
"Did you know, this is a toll road?"
Christian L.:" not legally no"
Syrus (Kenny PC):(To Firean) My dear beautiful lady! May I perform a song for you to serenade your beautiful looks

(and I still have all my coins on me?)
Simon N. (GM):Yes, but right now the Sleight of Hand would be high DC. A distraction would help.
Firaen to Erasmus: "Even Monks have to eat! Perhaps I should search you, Brother?"
Syrus (Kenny PC):Syrus nudges Percy and ERasmus
Percy Hollowwood (Christian PC):"what?"
Kenny H.:Does Erasmus running ahead counts as distraction? ;)
Simon N. (GM):Firaen makes her way down the rocks. You note she has a 2-handed sword slung over her back.
Kenny H.:(To Percy) I need a distraction ;)
Simon N. (GM):Yes, the bandits are watching Erasmus.

Simon N. (GM):GM: It's about 11am when you set off again, about 2 hours since the battle with the bandits. Less than a mile onwards you see the sinister Jagged Tower on a ridge, rising high over the treetops.
Kenny H.:(Just noticed our camp fire just now a AMAZING!!
Percy Hollowwood (Christian PC):"to the creepy scary witch tower we go"
Kenny H.:@SIMON GREAT JOB with all these different maps!!! I am so impressed! :-D
Erasmus:They're great!
Percy Hollowwood (Christian PC):Thumbs up!
Simon N. (GM):OOC I hope you live long enough to experience lots of them :)
Erasmus:Oh, don't worry. So do we!!
Simon N. (GM):Tenho grows nervous as you approach th tower through the trees.
Kenny H.:(Am soooo missing the other players!! We need more peeps!! :-P)
Simon N. (GM):Then you heat singing ahead... really bad singing.
"Lost, lost, is the proud lady knight...."
Erasmus:To Tenho "Have you been here before?"
Simon N. (GM):"...Her head is bowed, her neck is pierced..."
Tenho looks nervous:"Well, I may have had dealings with her, once or twice..."
Erasmus:"Sounds... ominous."
Simon N. (GM):As you come out of the trees, you see the old crone by the water's edge. She is washing blood stained linens.
Syrus (Kenny PC):@Tenho - as you have visited her before, can you lead us - she may recognise your face better than seeing strangers first?
Percy Hollowwood (Christian PC):"lets get this over with as i am gettin the creeps
Simon N. (GM):Tenho nods to Syrus. She looks up as you approach and cackles gleefully. "HELLOOO!"
Tenho takes a nervous steps forward, trying to look confident. "H-hello there, mother."
Syrus (Kenny PC):@Percy do you want to hide by tree in case something happens?
Simon N. (GM):Tenho whispers: "figure of speech, of course."
Percy if you are hiding roll stealth thx
Erasmus:Following Tenho's lead "Hello, mother."

Simon N. (GM):Aretha wades through the shallows, grinning with mouthful of rotten teeth. She seems oblivious to Percy.
Syrus (Kenny PC):@ARETHA - M'Lady, about whom were you singing of, this Lady Knight?
Simon N. (GM):Tenho: "We've come to trade, this excellent perfume and climbing potion for some of your healing drafts..." Aretha ignores him and turns to Syrus. "Of course! I ALWAYS know death!"
She squints. "My, YOU'RE a pretty one! He he he!"
She moves forward, grinning.
"How about a kiss, eh? a potion for a kiss!"
As she gets close to Syrus, she smells of moss and swamp water.
Syrus (Kenny PC):@ARETHA - how about a song instead, perhaps a duet together?
Simon N. (GM):roll Persuasion Syrus

Simon N. (GM):"No! Kiss!"
Tenho coughs nervously.
Syrus (Kenny PC):@Aretha - what delight will you offer in return?
Simon N. (GM):Aretha looks affronted. "Healing potions! Or others? You want a love philter? Make the girl fall in love with you? It always works - just ask her ladyship! Or the Baron! Heh heh heh..."
Syrus (Kenny PC):Syrus bows, takes the veiny swampy clammy hand of Aretha, and kisses it
@ARETHA - M'Lady, accept this kiss as a gift
Simon N. (GM):Aretha grabs Syrus!
Syrus (Kenny PC):Yikes!

Aretha looks sad.
"Why you no want kiss a poor old woman?!"
Syrus (Kenny PC):Syrus is shocked and speechless
And feels a bit swampy :-P
Simon N. (GM):"Tenho: "Please, mother. Plenty of time for revelry once we have defeated the evil that lurks within the ruined fort!"

18 on Tenho's persuasion - Aretha looks somewhat mollified.
Aretha: "sigh No one wants to kiss old Aretha any more... very well. Let's see what you have to trade."
Tenho proffers the perfume (which she sniffs) and the potion.
Aretha: "Oh, very well. Two healing potions for both." She turns to Syrus. "And you must promise to kiss me when you get back - if you get back - from your adventure!"
Erasmus:"Indeed. Is there something more you have that could aid in our task"
?
Syrus (Kenny PC):@Aretha - "perhaps we can bring you back some gifts from the Fort on our return in exchange of what extra you can offer us now?"
Simon N. (GM):You can both roll Persuasion, but DC 17 - she's getting bored now.

Erasmus:That'd be a no, then
Syrus (Kenny PC):Plus 3!
I have 17 also! :)
Simon N. (GM):A very large boar emerges from the tower, glowering at you. Aretha ignores the monk but simpers at Syrus. "Oh, yes, presents..."
From within the foul recesses of her cape she produces a glimmering short sword.
"This is a Moonouched sword - it glows like moonlight and can hurt even the ghost!"
"This might keep you alive to come back to me, darling..." she winks lasciviously. "And bring me presents from the Fort!"
Syrus (Kenny PC):@ARETHA - "Thank You M'Lady, I shall use it in search of presents for you"
Erasmus:"Thank you, mother."
Simon N. (GM):Moontouched Sword: In darkness, the unsheathed blade of this sword sheds moonlight, creating bright light in a 15-foot radius and dim light for an additional 15 feet. Also Magic +0 weapon.
Erasmus:"Gentlemen, shall we?"
Kenny H.:Whats does "Magic +0 weapon" mean?
Simon N. (GM):Aretha smiles: "I know you will. Because if you didn't, I'd be sad. Very sad. When Aretha is sad, bad things happen."
GM: The sword does not have a to hit or damage bonus, but it can hurt creatures resistant or immune to normal weapons - like ghosts.
Kenny H.:@SIMON - "Understood, Thanks for explaining"
Syrus (Kenny PC):Syrus bows to Aretha, then back away quickly
Simon N. (GM):GM: Tenho hands over his trade for the 2 healing potions.
Tenho: "Goodbye now, mother."
Aretha waves you off: "Bye-die-bye!"
Percy Hollowwood (Christian PC):should i do a stealth check to rejoin the party as they leave so that aretha doesn't realize i was hiding, so not to anger her
or not
Simon N. (GM):You head away from the tower, Aretha goes back to her singing - Percy you safely rejoin the group.
Tenho looks relieved. He passes a healing potion to Percy. "You seem to be our designated healer, my friend!"
Kenny H.:Well done guys, we survived that one! :-/
Erasmus:Just.
Simon N. (GM):GM: I think I'll just move you on to Fort map then end for tonight, ok?
Percy Hollowwood (Christian PC):"that is something i have not been called before"
Erasmus:to Percy "Friend?"
Percy Hollowwood (Christian PC):"no healer"
Simon N. (GM):Beyond the hag's tower the road splits, one branch heading north round the east side of Skul Peak.
Erasmus:"Ah. Good to know."
Simon N. (GM):It's rough going on the trail, and getting close to 3pm when you see close off to your right the still mighty walls of Fort Skulnar rising above the treetops.
Erasmus:To GM: Do you want to save the fort map for the next session?
I'll just put you on it to help w planning
Erasmus:Oooh. Fog of War!! :D
Simon N. (GM):You're approaching from the south so scroll down :)
Kenny H.:Looks :-O
Erasmus:Aha!
Simon N. (GM):You & Tenho survey the scene from the treeline. The gatehouse shows severe damage/
No sign of life from the great Keep to the NW, but from the SE tower rise two thin smoke trails, likely campfires.
Tenho looks nervous. "Yes... shouldn't be any trouble. No trouble at all..."
GM: This session XP is 53 each. Percy gets Inspiration for saving the party, Syrus gets Inspiratoon for blagging a magic sword from Aretha. :)
Erasmus:"After our run in with Firaen, I hope not."
Noice.
Simon N. (GM):You can spend Inspiration for advantage on a roll, or can give it to someone else likewise.
Kenny H.:Well done everyone! I had a fun session 0 really thought I would die if not for Percy - my dice roll has been a bit crappy in general :-P
Simon N. (GM):OK stopping there. Hope you enjoyed it! I can play on Tuesday evening if that suits?
Erasmus:Well deserved, chaps.
Kenny H.:Tuesday Eve suits me!
Erasmus:Tuesday should be fine. What time were you thinking?
Simon N. (GM):6.30pm again?
Christian L.:i think i should be able to play
Kenny H.:YAYS to Team!!! Hopefully the others can join us too!
Erasmus:Ok. Thanks.
Simon N. (GM):I'm flexible, can do any time Tuesday. Would prefer not Wed this week as gf visiting. :)
Well done not dying in your first fight - level 1 is always tough!
Erasmus:I finish work at 6 so that should be good for me.
Simon N. (GM):great thanks
I'm hoping to run twice a week for the rest of the summer, once in the week & once at weekend.
Erasmus:Came close to dying, but thanks for the game. :)
Simon N. (GM):You distracted the 22 hp ATT +4/2d6+3 AC 15 bandit queen Erasmus. You did good. :)
Erasmus:I'm looking to start DMing for my son and some of his mates, but I don't know what day that'll be.
Christian L.:ok i am going to go now so bye
Erasmus:Thanks Christian.
Kenny H.:@CHRISTIAN - See you Tuesday 6.30pm! Thanks again for the heal!! :)
Simon N. (GM):bye now!
Erasmus:G'Night all
